NFL Police Chief Commissioner Roger Goodell cleared middle linebacker Odell Thurman to be able to practice with the Bengals. Thurman has been suspended for two years and this will most likely lead to his reinstatement. Although, this doesn’t guarantee that he will get reinstated it looks like if he stays out of trouble he will be able to rejoin the team for good. The search for the Bengals new defensive coordinator intensified today, with rumors that the Ravens would not allow current defensive coordinator Rex Ryan to make a lateral move to a division rival, and the apparent refusal by the Carolina Panthers to allow the Bengals to take to defensive backs coach Tim Lewis. A new name has jumped to the front of the list, as current Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer interviewed with the Bengals last Friday, and while he is still under contract with Atlanta, was apparently told he could, and should, look for a job elsewhere. The much anticipated expulsion of Bengals coaches has officially begun, as defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan and linebackers coach Ricky Hunley were both let go by Marvin Lewis last night. Bresnahan’s defenses in the three years were, put simply just plain awful. His squads ranked very close to the bottom in total defense in all 3 years, ranking 28th, 30th, and a personal best 27th this season. Ricky Hunley came aboard the same time Marvin Lewis did, and managed to survive Lewis’ 1st defensive coordinator being fired.
