LOOKS LIKE WE LOSE AGAIN, AND THE SEASON ISN’T EVEN STARTED
The NFL decided to nix the Bengals deal for DT Shaun Rogers. Somehow the plan was going to violate salary cap rules. The Bengals, the team who wouldn’t give out structured deals to avoid salary cap trouble somehow got into a trade that does, and lost a shot at a big DL. Instead, the Bengals will get to play him twice a year when he signs with the Browns.
San Francisco also announced the signing of FA (and former Bengal) Justin Smith. Although Smith was overpriced for the amount of production he had in Cincinnati, at least he was durable enough to play game in and game out. However, giving up the salary cap space to pick up a pure pass rusher was well worth it in our book.
