The Bengals have waived RB Kenny Irons, the team’s second-round draft pick in 2007. Irons tore his ACL in preseason last year, and his rehab has been going slowly. He wasn’t expected to play in 2008. If Irons clears waivers, the team will likely re-sign him and place him on injured reserve. The cut gets the Bengals down to the 80-man roster limit for training camp, which begins Monday.
Update: Irons’ father says the move was for roster and cap purposes and that Kenny expects to be back with the team (on injured reserve) this season. Look for him to hopefully make some noise in 2009.
