Bengals/Titans Open Thread

by Bengals

The wind could get tricky at Paul Brown Stadium this afternoon, with some of what’s left of Hurricane Ike set to move through the region.

A few lineup changes this week:

Darryl Blackstock gets the start at SAM over Rashad Jeanty.

Frostee Rucker remains in the starting spot at end over Antwan Odom.

Chinedum Ndukwe, coming off a preseason knee injury, will start in place of the injured (and out) Dexter Jackson.

Special teams ace Indiana Jones is down with a hammy injury this week.

The 2008 draft class remains a M*A*S*H unit, with Andre Caldwell, Pat Sims and Jason Shirley all on the bench thanks to injury today.

On the Tennessee side, DT Albert Haynesworth is expected to play.

Hard to be worse than week 1; I dont mind losses but getting the proverbial ass handed to you gets old.

Final impressions? Better this week. Not enough, obviously, but better. Bengals' D did a decent job, like last week good enough to win, but the offense just has no rhythm, no timing, no zip at all. TJ has been virtually invisible in these first two games. Chad's been nothing special. Perry had some good runs today. Utecht is now likely out for some period of time. Teams did well today, the blocked punt excepted, but that was an impossible situation. But until the O figures out which is its ass and which is its elbow, this team's going nowhere.

Lapham is dead on: the Bengals are still in preseason game 2. They are just not in any kind of sync on offense.

Nice runback by Chatman. Not that the offense will do anything with the field position...

Oh, great, now J Joe is banged up.

Great job pushing off, Ocho Dipshito.

D holds but a 70 yard punt. Damn.

Nope. Don't want to. At least they pinned the Titans deep. Sounds like Haynesworth is loopy. Concussions are nothing to screw with.

Good return by Holt. Bengals offense needs to take advantage of it.

Bengals D looks like they're out of gas.

Bengals come away empty. Wind a killer.

Ben Utecht reported to have left PBS...and a dumb penalty in the red zone.

Good D. Even Thornton makes a play.

Damn. Dorsey can't break it and now Carson appears hurt. Then again, at least Fitz has some mobility and this is a lousy day to throw.

Killed by the big play. Ndukwe needs to make that tackle. 14-7 Titans.

CHRIS PERRY! On 4th and inches, no less. 7 all.

Great defense! And a partial block by Hebert on teams!

Now, if only we had an offense...

Three and out and a crappy punt. I know the wind is causing problems but that's no excuse for the horrible ground game.

Sorry. Had to step out for a minute there. Doesn't look like I missed much but the Titans just made it into the red zone...

2 fumbles in 5 carries. Hey, Perry, wipe the Wd-40 off your gloves, damnit!

Defense wants to play, though.

Great start, eh? Utecht hurt, followed by a 29-yard punt. Ridiculous.
