Bengals DT Jason Shirley, the team’s fifth-round pick last April, was found guilty of driving under the influence and sentenced to 30 days in a work program on Monday.
The charges stem from an incident in college in which Shirley drove his vehicle into a building and nearly ran over a man sitting on the toilet. Shirley claimed that he was suffering from the after-effects of a concussion.
The verdict comes in the second trial in the case; the first ended in a mistrial. Shirley’s lawyer said he plans an appeal.
