Pick Six

Posted by: david

1-8-1 down, 6 games to go. Fearless Forecast: the Cincinnati Bengals will go no worse than .500 through the end of the season. Here’s the lineup:

@ Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers and the Bengals have a habit of swapping wins in each others’ houses, but the Steelers’ 38-10 drubbing of the Bengals in week 7 argues that this habit won’t be forming this year. It’s a division game, any given Sunday, blah blah blah, I’m just not buying it. File this one under “L.”

Baltimore Ravens. I have this one pencilled in as an “L” but am not sure. The week 1 meeting between these two teams was a one-TD affair and Big Willie’s value as a spy on the Baltimore sideline won’t be nearly as great. They could surprise and pull this out, but I’m not betting on it.

@ Indianapolis Colts. Snort! Yeah, right. Fat chance.

Washington Redskins. My Lock of the Last Six. Two close games against the Giants and Cowboys, a tie against the Eagles…DC is doomed. “W” — or rather, Dubya.

@ Cleveland Browns. The Browns are disintegrating by the week. By this point the team that got past Cincy 20-12 in week 4 will be ripe for plucking. “W.”

Kansas City. The dead cat bounce is complete with a 3-0 run to finish the season.

So…there’s your finish. Probably 4-11-1, possibly 5-10-1.
