Bengals starting right tackle and current “franchise” player Stacy Andrews suffered an ACL tear in his right knee during Cincinnati’s 14-0 shutout of the Cleveland Browns.
Dennis Roland, who spent most of the last two years on Tampa Bay’s practice squad and was picked up by the Bengals last month, will start in Andrews’ place against the Chiefs.
The injury leaves the Bengals with just two starters on the offensive line from opening day, right guard Bobbie Williams and center Eric Ghiacuic.
Andrews, who drew the $7.5 million franchise tag last offseason, had not played up to the money and was widely expected to depart in free agency next year. How the injury impacts his value next March remains to be seen.
