Bengals Big Board 1/12
In our second weekly Bengals Big Board of the 2009 draft season, Ole Miss OT Michael Oher extends his lead as the early favorite for the No. 6 overall pick. He’s followed by Ohio State running back Chris Wells, with Virginia OT Eugene Monroe in third.
Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno and Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree make their Big Board debut in the wake of each players’ declaration that they’ll enter the 2009 draft. Ohio State CB Malcolm Jenkins also earned a single nod this time around.
As always, the Big Board was assembled by combing through Fansided’s Mock Draft Database, and uses only mocks that have been updated with the correct draft order at the end of the season.

I do not understand why people want Chris Wells! It makes me think that some fans are as stupid as Mike Brown! He is not going to be a good pro, quit being OSU fans/homers! If you want an OSU product, than get James Laurinaitis. He at least provides good talent, morals, and more than anything leadership. I say draft O-line, but if that is not available I would love for the Bengals to take Rey Maualuga or Malcolm Jenkins (another OSU product). Wells will just be another Va-gina Carter!
January 12th, 2009 at 3:09 pmFrom your mouth to Mike Brown’s ears, Chip (not, of course, that he would listen…). Even if Wells is going to be a good pro, he’ll never be that behind our joke of an o-line.

January 13th, 2009 at 8:40 amI don’t get any of these picks. I would take Ray Maualuga with our first pick and no other. Ray Lewis has been around 13 years. Imagine a defense with Maualuga and Rivers anchoring the middle for the next 13 years! Offensive players will come and go. But look at the division we are in. We need to be tougher defensively to compete. And 12th isn’t good enough…the Colts were 11th and that wasn’t good enough either. We are almost there defensively. Lets finish the job and then focus on rebuilding the offense. There will be plenty of prospects to choose from including free agents to help immediately. If the opponents can’t score, the offensive has a lower bar to exceed. This is the meanest division in football and we need to step up or step out.
January 13th, 2009 at 4:00 pmI lean toward finishing the D myself, but there is no denying the Bengals’ need on the o-line. Obviously, free agency can scramble the picture significantly If they can find answers for the offense in March, great. Then defense is definitely the way to go, and Rey-Rey would be a great pick.
