Report: Stacy Andrews an Eagle
Looks like the Dancing Bear finally got his wish.
Knee-jerk reaction: don’t let the door hit ya on the way out, Stacy. Andrews was a disappointment last season, failing to live up to the franchise tag money he was being paid, and his departure eliminates any chance of the Bengals relying on him and his torn ACL next fall. Cincinnati needs a right tackle and Andrews wasn’t the answer.
Update: $7 million a year???? LOLOLOLOL. Andrews wasn’t worth that even if his knee wasn’t wrecked. Wow. Guess the Eagles have money to burn and roster spots to waste…
Update 2: In other free agent news, Geoff Hobson passes along word that T.J. Houshmandzadeh is headed to Seattle for a visit with the Seahawks. Does Andrews’ signing take Philly out of the running for Housh? Could be.
Update 3: Tom Kowalski at Mlive says that Housh is No. 1 on the Detroit Lions’ wish list but that they believed he’d be priced out of their range. But as that doesn’t appear to be happening, the Lions could jump into the mix if Houshmandzadeh leaves Seattle without a deal.
Update 4: Seattle could be a tricky fit for Houshmandzadeh. They aren’t the clearly playoff-bound team he seems to desire, and have said they won’t be big players this year in free agency.

Yes the Eagles are buffoons when it comes to adding players . . . we should obviously follow the Bengals model.
February 27th, 2009 at 8:41 amHey, you want to pay $7 million a year for the guy who led our line in sacks allowed, be my guest.

February 28th, 2009 at 1:02 pmHe is so horrible that they franchised him last year, and have been trying to get a long term deal done for a few years now.
March 3rd, 2009 at 2:55 amThey franchised him because of injuries to Levi Jones and Willie Anderson, and the earlier decision to let Eric Steinbach walk. It meant they barely had two starting tackles, and zero depth. Andrews is junk. Don’t believe me, go look at his play.
March 3rd, 2009 at 8:19 amif you say so. enjoy going 3-13.
