Cedric Benson to Visit Texans

Just as the Houshmandrama appears to be winding down, things are heating up on the Cedric Benson front. The Houston Chronicle says Benson will visit Houston. The Texans are looking for a backup to Steve Slayton.

Cincinnati hosted free agent RB Derrick Ward earlier this weekend, but he left without a deal to visit Denver, and at last report was headed to Tampa Bay from there. He’s said to be looking for megabucks and not getting them.

Not a clue. But the market for RBs has been in the tank this free agent period, as evidenced by Derrick Ward's "In Search of Money" tour.

True, wasn't thinking in terms of him being a local favorite. Do you have any inkling of what kinds terms/cash the Bengals are offering to him?

I suspect it will come down to money, like usual. I think Benson is going to want either a long-term, big bucks deal or a one-year contract, and if it's a one-year one, Houston has to be attractive. He's a local favorite from his college days, he gets a one-year "prove you can be a good boy" deal and as a backup doesn't take much pounding, and is still young enough to cash in in 2010.

I still think we get Benson. Does he really want to be a backup?
