With the Crocker signing, the Bengals are kind of backup up at safety. In fact, they were widely expected to part ways with S Dexter Jackson, who probably would have lost his starting job at the beginning of last season to Chinedum Ndukwe if Ndukwe hadn't gotten hurt. They've also got Marvin White, a former 4th round pick in his 3rd year and and Corey Lynch of App State beats Michigan fame, who was looking like a sleeper pick before an injury took him down last season.

All that said, Williams would be an upgrade and I would be happy to have him. But I don't see the Bengals making a run at him.

Would the resigning of Chris Crocker eliminate any and all chance that the Bengals would go out and sign Ex-Cowboy S Roy Williams? Rick Herrin of the Star-Telegram is reporting that Cincinnati Bengals are a possible destination for Williams because of his pro-bowl seasons under Mike Zimmer. There is a lot of reporting that states Williams was misused in the Parcells' and Phillips' systems and if he went to a 4-3 system he could preform at an All-Pro level again. Williams has had injury problems the past two seasons but is only 28 years old and could have several years of tread left. Williams could provide some very much needed experiance to a very youthful Bengals defense. The Bengals have stated they will only be looking for offense in the free agency period and there are several safeties on the roster who you would like to see get some playing time. On the other hand Williams will probably not require much money to sign and the chance that he could find his once dominant form coupled with Mike Zimmer pushing for it, there could be a chance he wears stripes.
