Rams Wave Goodbye to Orlando Pace

by Bengals

I mentioned this in comments a few posts down, but it deserves note on its own as well: the St. Louis Rams today released Hall-of-Fame-bound LT Orlando Pace.

The move is relevant to the Bengals in two ways. First, if healthy, Pace represents a stopgap veteran option at tackle, in much the same way that Richmond Webb was a few years back. But more importantly, the release of Pace would seem to lock St. Louis into offensive tackle with the second overall pick. Should the Lions choose OT over QB with the first pick, and the Seahawks excercise their option to replace Walter Jones at four, then the top three tackles could be off the board by the time Cincinnati chooses at six.

Nah, if God really hated us, he'd make sure one of the top 3 falls to Cincy. That way, we have our choice of:

-- "athlete" Jason Smith (remember how well our last couple "athletic" o-linemen, S. Andrews and E. Ghiacuic, worked out?)

-- Eugene "knee questions" Monroe (Levi v2.0?), or...the grand prize...

-- Andre "screw you guys, I'm going home" Cartman.

The 3 top tackles gone before we can get one at 6? How gruesome. Does God hate us?

Following this amazing athlete from his senior year in high school up till today, he is one of the most dominant OL ever to play the game at any level. Very classy guy, and I applaud his great career. Would I like to see him be a Bengal, of course. Is he physically able, who knows. He would definitely give the young OL someone to look up to, and learn from. Congrats, and good luck O !
