With this update of the Cincinnati Bengals Mock Draft Big Board, I’m eliminating mocks that haven’t been updated since the start of free agency. Fortunately, most mockers did at least one update in the wake of the Matt Cassel trade, so the impact on total mocks tracked is minor (106 this time around versus 113 in the last update).
Offensive tackle Eugene Monroe continues to hold court as king of the Big Board. However, many mocks have him gone (usually to the Seahawks at four) before Cincinnati picks, and there’s no consensus on which direction the Bengals jump in that case. The most popular alternatives are OT Andre Smith — given the team’s past behavior in the draft, the mockosphere doesn’t see Cincinnati being deterred by any character concerns — and WR Michael Crabtree.
Falling upwards is OT Jason Smith, who is now seen as a virtual lock for one of the first two selections. DT B.J. Raji is also drifting higher in many mocks; he’s becoming another popular pick for Seattle. OT Michael Oher is benefitting from Andre Smith’s combine and pro day issues, while DE Brian Orakpo is all over the board, sometimes going as high as three in some mocks, and falling to the bottom — or even out of — the top 10 in other simulations.
The Big Board was assembled by combing through Fansided’s Mock Draft Database, and also incorporates mocks from NFL.com, CBS Sports, ESPN.com and Fox Sports.
