Battlestations! Tank Rumbles Through Cincinnati

Former Bears and Cowboys DT Tank Johnson visited with the Bengals this week, according to The Dallas Morning News.

A few weeks ago the Bengals visited with safety Roy Williams. This week, they have isited with nose tackle Tank Johnson.

Johnson spent the last two seasons with the Cowboys after he was cut by Chicago following an arrest for drunk driving that was eventually thrown out. Johnson had 45 tackles last season with one sack, three tackles for loss and nine quarterback pressures. He also forced a fumble last year … against the Bengals at Texas Stadium.

The news regarding Johnson’s future employment has been a little slow since he declared, “I’m a free agent, baby,” walking off the field at Philadelphia following the 44-6 loss.

Hmmm. Pothead versus gun nut.

I need a drink.

(h/t go-bengals for the word.)

Update: Hobson says no deal appears imminent but quotes Tank’s agent as saying his client is “intrigued” by the Bengals.

“There are other teams that have an interest in Tank, but he’s intrigued by the Bengals,” [agent Jerrold] Colton said Thursday night. “He’s interested because of Marvin Lewis, Mike Zimmer and (defensive line coach) Jay Hayes. He liked what he saw. He likes the look of the young guys on defense and how he could fit in.”

Can I have that drink now?
