Bengals OL Coach Likes A. Smith Over Oher?

The latest rumor on which OT the Bengals like at six if both Eugene Monroe and Jason Smith are off the board comes from Pro Football Weekly’s Nolan Nawrocki.

The most important man in determining which direction the Bengals go early in this draft is veteran OL coach Paul Alexander, who has developed a reputation as a good evaluator and has recommended drafting Andrew Whitworth, Stacy Andrews, Eric Steinbach and Levi Jones, among others. The way we hear it, he is more fond of Andre Smith than Oher, but both could be in consideration, especially if Smith should happen to be selected prior to the sixth pick, which is unlikely but possible.

Nawrocki believes Smith is the front-runner, especially given owner Mike Brown’s habit of “roll[ing] the dice on immense talent with character concerns.”

In recent days, scout.com’s Chris Stueber said that Oher would be the pick, while 1530Homer’s Lance McAlister passed along a rumor that the front office likes Andre Smith.
