C. Trent has a solid look at the Bengals’ 2008 draft, in the course of which he says of tackle Anthony Collins, “[t]here are some in the organization who believe he can replace Levi Jones for good.”
Collins started the final six games last season at left tackle.
Peter King thinks the Bengals will pick either Andre Smith or B.J. Raji. Conventional wisdom has Raji off the radar after the Tank Johnson signing, but Tank is just signed for a year, and if the Bengals do indeed see Collins as the LT of the Future, well…okay, I still wouldn’t bet on it. More likely Mike Brown exercises his lamentable penchant for offensive skill players.
Speaking of Raji, word now is that the report he tested positive for weed at the combine was, like, totally bogus.
Doc takes a look at the more then meteoric rise of University of Cincinnati JT (Jack of all Trades) Connor Barwin. Projected to be an undrafted free agent last August, Barwin could sneak into the first round Friday. More likely, though, he goes early in the second round. I would not be surprised at all the see him end up in stripes, even if it meant Cincinnati had to trade up a few spots to snag him (New England, picking at 34, is a popular landing spot for Barwin). Why? Barwin’s a popular local player, and popular local players sell tickets and merchandise, something the Bengals haven’t done so well at lately.
One Man Crime Wave mocks Andre Smith to Cincinnati.
And finally, a comment on Chad Ochoweepo. Yup.
