Bengals Send DT Harris to Rams for RB Leonard

The Cincinnati Bengals have shipped defensive tackle Orien Harris to St. Louis in exchange for running back Brian Leonard, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Leonard started in seven games as a rookie in 2007 and finished with 303 yards on 86 carries. His best game came on Oct. 7, 2007, against Arizona when he had 102 yards on 18 carries. He was limited by injuries last year, playing in only two games with seven yards on two carries.

Harris was acquired on waivers before the start of the season last year and saw action in 14 games with 24 tackles.

Leonard, who has a history of shoulder problems, played fullback for the Rams last season.

My guess: the Bengals just traded one guy who wasn’t going to make the final roster for another guy who isn’t going to make the final roster. But competition is good and all that…

Oh Leanard will make the Bengals. This is going to be considered a steal. I watched Brian Leonard at Rutgers and this kid can play. Trading for him most likely ends the Bengal career of Kenny Watson, a player I have really liked, but who has been hurt. Brian Leonard is faster, stronger, and younger, and can play both RB and FB. He will be the best recieving back for Palmer and will get the Bengals a lot of first downs.

No doubt he can play. The question is, can he stay healthy? I just can’t bring myself to count on anyone with his injury history. But I’d be happy to be wrong.
