The Cincinnati Bengals have their first (voluntary) on-field workout of the offseason tomorrow, and the word is that first-round pick Andre Smith will be installed at right tackle while left guard Andrew Whitworth slides out to left tackle. This isn’t particularly surprising, as the move has been telegraphed by bengals.com for several weeks. The only real question is, where does Anthony Collins, who started the final six games at LT last year, fit now? Presumably he moves to LG.
Former Arizona CB Rod Hood is visiting Detroit today. The Bengals brought Hood in a couple weeks ago as part of their quest to upgrade the nickel corner spot. Hood, a starter in Arizona, appears to be in no hurry to ink a deal for a part-time or backup role.
Cincinnati does have the cap space to continue dabbling in free agency. Per PFT, the Bengals have about $16.4 million in space remaining. Some $6.6 million of that will have to be reserved for the rookie pool, and the Bengals like to keep $2 million or $3 million back as an injury reserve, but that still leaves $7 million or $8 million left to play with.
For the first time since 1996, Bengals season tickets are on sale.
