Per the official site, the Cincinnati Bengals worked out former Ravens CB Corey Ivy today, and brought ex-Cardinals TE Leonard Pope in for a visit.
According to a source in a NFC city, the Bengals brought in veteran tight end Leonard Pope for a visit and veteran cornerback Corey Ivy for a workout Tuesday. With no signings announced by the end of business, that would indicate the Bengals don’t plan to move on them any time soon.
Pope, as site writer Geoff Hobson suggests, doesn’t fit from a blocking perspective, but the Bengals could use another underneath receiving threat given that teams like the Broncos Sunday keep closing down the long ball with deep DBs. TE Dan Coats and FB Jeremi Johnson each had a drop Sunday, along with several by WR Laveranues Coles, wo was supposed to take over in T.J. Houshmandzadeh’s role as go-to guy in the slot. Frankly, late in the game second-year WR Andre Caldwell was more impressive. TE Chase “Crash Dummy” Coffman doesn’t appear to be ready for the big time yet.
