Bengals Ax Long Snapper St. Louis

Long snapper Brad St. Louis, whose muffed snaps cost the Cincinnati Bengals 11 points over the first five games, has been cut.

His replacement is former Houston Texan Clark Harris. The Bengals face the Texans at PBS this coming Sunday.

St. Louis, a ten-year NFL veteran, was a seventh-round pick of the Bengals in 2000. Ironically, his arrival was welcomed by fans at the time because of precisely the kind of drama on kick attempts in 1999 that Bengaldom saw again this season. St. Louis stabilized the long-snapping position for Cincinnati for most of the decade, though he had come under criticism for muffing snaps in critical games dating back to 2006.

St. Louis’ departure leaves Chad Ochocinco as the lone pre-Marvin Lewis player on the roster.

I prefer to remember his better days. So long Brad, and thanks for all the good snaps. They far outweighed the bad.
