The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Detroit Lions 23-13 this afternoon. The game wasn’t as close as indicated, with Detroit getting a garbage-time TD late in the game. The Bengals played sloppily early, but firmed up late. The offense still struggled, managing just one TD and three FGs.
The passing game was all Chad Ochocinco, who caught 9 passes for 137 yards and a TD. Cedric Benson went over 100 yards again, but needed 33 carries to do it. Defensively, the Bengals rang up 3 sacks and 2 picks.
In the end, not a pretty game, but the Bengals pulled away in the second half. Questions remain about the strength of the passing game, but for now: WHO-DEY!
UPDATE: STEELERS LOSE LOSE LOSE TO THE OAKLAND RAIDERS!!!!!!
UPDATE 2: Not only does Pittsburgh lose, but New England and Houston also go down, further bolstering the Bengals’ potential offseason position. Good day to be a Bengals fan…now let’s see if the Browns, who jumped out early on San Diego, can pull one out. I doubt it but you never know!
