17-7 Bengals at halftime. Ugly game by Cincinnati. Palmer is barely over 50% passing, with 129 yards and 1 TD to go with his pick. Offense has managed just 10 points and accounts for nearly all the 50 yards in first-half penalties. Benson is averaging 3 yards a carry versus 4 a lug for Kevin Smith. Stafford's stats, 7/18, 99 yards, a TD and a pick, are about the same as Palmers'. Both Chad and Megatron have 4 grabs for 70+ yards.

Elsewhere, Pitt is struggling against Oakland, leading just 10-6 at the half. Schaub has gone out with an injury in Houston and Jax is pounding them 20-7. Denver, NE and Indy all winning at the moment.

Excuse me, Lions ball. Anyhow, Lions give it back, Cincy hits a couple long passes and The Franchise nails a 44-yard FG with :14 left. 17-7 Bengals.

And they waste it AGAIN. Bears ball on their 15.

Lions miss a 55 yard FG. Why not go for it on 4th and 2? Smith is averaging 4.6 yards a carry right now. Bengals ball in good field position.

End Q1. Lions up by 7. Bengals offense has been horrible. Can't run (Benson has 13 yards on 7 runs), can't pass (Palmer is 3/8 for 34 yards and a pick), and can't stop Detroit (K. Smith has 22 yards on 4 carries, 90 yards passing for the Lions already). Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Bengals get the ball, promptly commit a hold, get buried deep and punt. Detroit ball again at the Detroit 15. Bengals look like complete crap today.

And the Lions cash in with a bomb to Megatron. 7-0 Detroit.

Bengals make it across midfield before the offense self-destructs: delay of game penalty, holding penalty, interception. Lions ball on their 46.

Lions rack up some more yards and firsts but are forced to punt. Punter lets go a poor punt and another good return by Cosby sets the Bengals up around their 35.

And the offense wastes the good field position...sigh. Bengals punt, Lions ball on the 20 after a touchback.

Lions get the ball first, pick up a first down but stall. Bengals get a nice return from Cosby, and set up shop on their 40.
