‘Way back when (October), I took a look at the Bengals’ remaining schedule based on Vegas’ reading of the landscape. The road looked pretty rocky. Bottom line: predictions that Cincinnati’s schedule would rank among the easier NFL roads were greatly exaggerated. Yet here they are at 8-3 and, as the cliche goes, in control of their own destiny. Certain numbers are popular in Bengaldom today. “Six” and “zero” are big, being the number of division wins and losses, respectively, that the Bengals have rung up this season. “Three” is also popular, as it’s the team’s “magic number.” Any combination of Cincinnati wins and Steelers/Ravens losses will secure the division for the officially upstart Bengals.
