Bengals – Jets Open Thread

by Bengals

Update: Barring a ridiculous comeback, the Bengals will play the Jets next Saturday at 4:30.

OP: A tremendous final afternoon of NFL action has set up a crucial last regular-season game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets. For the Jets, a win sends them to Cincinnati on Wild Card weekend; for the Bengals, a victory propels them into the third seed, thanks to Houston’s big comeback win against New England earlier today.

If the Bengals win, next weekend will see a rematch of week 6 as Houston comes back to Cincinnati for a Wild card game. If the Bengals lose, they’ll see the Jets again at home next weekend. (hat tip to jj for figuring this all out.)

Inactive tonight for Cincinnati are Cedric Benson, Fui Vakapuna, Chris Crocker, Jonathan Luigs, J.P. Foschi, Robert Geathers and Domata Peko. Bernard Scott gets the start at RB, Dan Coats gets the call at tight end, Pat Sims goes in place of Peko and Frostee Rucker is in for Geathers.

this is the old rashard take zero chances just have take downs to score points...it wins

Can you say choke or ocho sucko go steelers

We need pressure on the rookie QB the next week in the playoffs. Pressure him to make some bad decisions that become turnovers.
We're missing Crocker, Peko and Maualuga. If we had them back, we'd be better.
But, next week, slate is wiped clean. We start over. I'll be at the game screaming till I lose my voice. Either way, this spanking scares me though.

Per Joe Reedy, Bengals-Jets in Cincy Saturday @ 4:30. Assuming something crazy doesn't happen, which it won't.

Oh, and hey, thanks for hanging out, guys.

Only thing that really concerns me is the drops. But then again, that's the same stuff we've seen all year.

N8 your right on about a vanilla game plan, but I have no confidence in Brat. I know that we will be better on defense with the return of some starters and Zim.

Not sure about that. I wonder how much imagination even went into the game plan. I don't see a high-scoring game next week, but I think the offense will be better and even more motivated next week.

Not happy about Nelson, but we should have a better backup than Herbert that could step in instead of Nelson. I don't care how you spin it, this is not good for next week. The Jets defense against our offense spells disaster...

Yup. Especially now with the gift from Palmer. This will be at least 27-0 soon. Time for TGI O'Sullivan's and Jerome Simpson.

Time to shut them down. The game is lost and a couple of players have already been banged up. No need to risk further injury.

And I'm not putting much stock in this butt-whipping. Any team minus three defensive starters with nothing to play for would look pretty bad. Go ahead and inflate the Jets' ego and get the Bengals pissed. Fine by me.

Nelson out with a knee injury. Happy now?

Nelson's not the problem, the problem is we're losing the battle at the LOS.

3rd and 1 Brat calls a pass, predictable...

and Tome Nelson is not ready to be on the active squad...

This is sad!!! Might as well go with O'Sullivan and be done with it...

Bengals can't catch a ball to save their lives. Drops all over the place. Still 10-0.

End Q1. Jets 7-0 and with a first and goal. Cincy getting owned on the line of scrimmage. Jets are running over right guard at will.

Pat Sims out for the night with an injured right forearm.

Pass-run-pass-punt. Jets ball.

Bengals get burned by the wildcat. Jets strike first, 7-0.
