I’ve enlisted America’s most-famous rodeo monkey, Whiplash, to help me with the last straggling bits of news in regard to the NFL Draft.
Vic Carucci lists the Bengals as one of his five teams that will get immediate help from this draft class.
-I agree. I’m not sure who will make the biggest contribution (Jermaine Gresham would be the favorite), but there is so much talent in this group of picks that someone will produce immediately. And if it’s Carlos Dunlap, this defense could be downright nasty. Fingers crossed.
Bucky Brooks gives the Bengals draft a “B” (Hey, so did I. Pay me, NFL.com). He likes their first three picks especially (Gresham, Dunlap, Jordan Shipley). There is also some videos of the draftees’ workouts.
-I think the team’s fourth pick is intriguing as well. Brandon Ghee could be a big boost when the Colts and Saints bring their four-wide receiver packages into town.
Bengal-blogging machine Joe Reedy also passes on a few interesting bits of info in his space. Former Cowboy and former Pro Bowler Ken Hamlin announced on Twitter that he will be visiting Cincinnati tonight and tomorrow. Hamlin could fill an immediate need as a backup/situational safety. I say pull the trigger. This team now has few holes on paper and might as well load up for a deep playoff run. Plus, the price should be right ($1 Bob!).
The team also signed Cedric Peerman on waivers from the Lions. I normally don’t advocate taking anything from Detroit, but Peerman is the type of big back (5’9″, 210) who could be a big help in short yardage. Plus, the team has a pretty good history of finding treasure in another man’s trash. And the price is right ($1 Bob!).
Thanks again to Whiplash (yes, there really is a monkey that has been trained for the rodeo) for his help with this post.
