Preview: Why Cincy Should bring back LJ

Someone at NFL.com was silly enough to give me a megaphone for the masses. And in my first writing on Big Brother’s site, I’ll explore why the Bengals should chase Larry Johnson, who was just cut in Washington. Stay tuned for more details.

If the Bengals bring back any RB it should be RB DeDe Dorsey. He was cut earlier this year from the Lions. Dorsey was the most explosive player the Benglas have had since James Brooks. Dorsey had the ability to break any into a TD and he was a great special teams player with a knack for blocking kicks and punts.

I thought as highly of Dorsey as a runner as I do of Bernard Scott. But if I recall correctly, I believe his blocking was suspect at best and was why he eventually got cut. And with the O-line seeming to actively seek Palmer’s destruction at times, I’m not sure I want a RB contributing to that effort.

My gut reaction to LJ is “if he can’t stick in Washington, why do we want him?” But he was decent enough last year, and he has a different style than either Benson or Scott. So I’ll keep an open mind. Maybe you can convince me. And if Dan Coats is the one who gets cut to make room for him, I could hop on that bandwagon quickly.
