Here is a gem to bolster Question #2 of my post from yesterday. In an article posted on ESPN, Matt Williamson of Scouts, Inc. takes a few moments from his comparison of Carson Palmer and Ryan Fitzpatrick to shred my least favorite Bengal, Bob Bratkowski. Here is the money quote:
“I think [Buffalo coach] Chan Gailey is a much better passing-game coordinator. They are very simplistic in Cincinnati. They Bengals often get out-schemed, and that’s a real problem with their passing game. They don’t do a real good job of using pre-snap movement, formations and personnel groupings to get their best guys open.”
Ouch.
We keep hearing how the Bengals are built to run the ball. And clearly the NFL understands that the passing game is the Bengals weakness at this point, as demonstrated both by Mike’s comment and by opponents now consistently scheming to take away the running game. Yet Bratkowski has called 360 passing plays to only 224 rushing plays. Good game plan, Bob. If the passing game isn’t working, just keeping throwing until it does.
Good thing that in the off-season, Mike Brown locked up Bratkowski for another two years after this one.
Tap that keg, Johnny. We’re gonna need it.

I'd like to see this offense in someone else's hands. You would have to think Chan Gailey would fistfight someone to have Cincinnati's offensive talent. Instead, Brat seems to be wasting it.
