Tis’ The Season.
So it’s mock season boys and girls, and I figured I would show the results from my latest mock draft. This specific draft was all done via twitter entitled “#Rapidpick” or “#Rapidmock” so if my and my peers flooded your twitter stream, sorry! But right here are the results to who I had the Bengals taking. (I went with the Blaine Gabbert Scenario) 1 Blaine Gabbert – QB – Missouri 2 Adrian Clayborn – DE – Iowa 3 Will Rackley – OG – Lehigh 4 Quinton Carter – S – Oklahoma 5 DeMarco Murray – RB – Oklahoma 6 Austin [...]
Jordan Palmer hosting workouts.
Per media sources Bengals QB Jordan Palmer is hosting team workouts with WR’s and RB’s in Mission Viejo, California. It looks like Carson’s little brother is making the most of this opportunity trying to fill the team’s void at Quarterback, that his brother made. The workouts are set to start next week; very interesting considering the fact the draft is next week as well.
Not to Kill the Suspense, but…
By now, Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green has become the least “sexy” pick the Cincinnati Bengals could make at #4 in the upcoming NFL draft. Why? Call it “overexposure.” We’ve been hearing Green’s name mentioned as the team’s most likely pick since January. Not only has he been deemed to be the Bengals top pick by many of the draft gurus, but Green would appear to be such a lock to be in stripes in 2011 that even Chad Ochocinco has gotten in on the act. Never one to miss a chance to create “news” where there is none, the [...]

My Bengals Dozen: Julio Jones
Alabama Junior Receiver Julio Jones is next on my prospect list for the series “My Bengals Dozen”. Julio has been linked to Bengals in the media and has been on a visit to the team earlier this month. In fact Peter King went on record earlier this draft season that he thinks the Bengals rank Julio Jones over the more popular receiver AJ Green. Saying this: I’m told the Bengals, who have the fourth pick and are considering a receiver, have Jones ahead of Green on their preliminary draft board. Coach Marvin Lewis wouldn’t go that far this morning at the annual [...]
The Date is set.
One game for the Bengals preseason has been leaked. The Jets have said the first game of the preseason will be Sunday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. at the New Meadowlands Stadium. With this game being this early it implies that the last day of training camp for the team will be August 19th. No other confirmation or reports have been made for the Bengals. In fact the only reason we know about this one is because it’s from the Jets, not coming from the Cincinnati. All this of course happens if there aren’t still labor issues.
My Bengals Dozen: Andy Dalton
TCU QB Andy Dalton is the next Draft prospect on my list to talk about in my series. “My Bengals Dozen”. Dalton has already made a workout with the Bengals and Offensive Coordinator Jay Gruden was present at his pro day. NFL.com’s Gil Brandt had this to say on his pro day(3/11): Dalton made 50 passes and there was not a single uncatchable ball. He really made quite a showing for himself, and he likely will be a second-round pick now.
Bengals Poised for Draft Bonanza
This will be a very unusual draft. With no fewer than 10 quarterback-starved teams, desperation will rule the day. The Bengals are positioned to exploit it, even though they are probably the team in most need of a a signal-caller, and Marvin Lewis intends to do just that. The opportunity that presents itself is this. There are probably no quarterbacks in this draft that merit, in normal years, a top 5, or even a top 10, pick. Cam Newton might be the exception, but that’s based solely on his potential. He is certainly not a “lock” to be a franchise [...]
My Bengals Dozen: Christian Ponder
Theres 12 days till the draft starts, and I want to talk about in depth 12 prospects the Bengals have showed interest in. And by interest I’d like to mention guys the team has either, A. Had in for a visit with them. B. Had a private workout with or. C. Went to their pro-day. During this segment I’ll be giving you guys the basic combine stats (height weight etc), my personal scouting notes and their draft position relative to where the Bengals pick.
Bengals Need Coverage Help From Linebackers
Even before the Jets used Dustin Keller to light up the Bengals’ defense in the 2009 playoff game in Cincinnati, opposing offenses have recognized the obvious. The Bengals’ linebacking corps was built to stop the run, but lacks the athleticism to provide sustained pass coverage. Sure, Rey Maualuga did manage to stumble in front of an ill-advised pass from Philip Rivers late in the 2010 season for his second interception of the year. He made none his rookie season in 2009. Dhani Jones hasn’t had an interception since 2008, when he made his lone pick in four years with the [...]
