Bengals HC Marvin Lewis Named AFC North’s Best Grinder
ESPN’s AFC North writer James Walker took part of ESPN’s Best of week. In the write up Walker awarded “Best Ego Manager”, “Best Grinder”, “Best Hair”, “Best coach-GM Tandem” and “Best postgame-interview”. Obviously for a few of those categories Lewis has no shot in. Like Coach-GM tandem; since the Bengals don’t have a GM. Best postgame isn’t very likely either since Lewis is known for his boring interviews. Ego Manager; Ochocinco. For “Best Grinder” I can’t think of a coach in the AFC North who deserves that more. Look at the workout’s he’s making his own coaching staff go through. But the [...]
After originally being connected with Famed QB Guru, George Whitfield. (Cam Newton, Big Ben) It looks like the Ohio State signal caller decided to go with former Bengal Ken Anderson. Ken Anderson isn’t just an ex-NFL QB, he’s a retired QB coach as well. Some of you may remember that he was actually the Bengals QB coach from 1993 to 1996. Then from 1996 to 2000 Anderson was actually the team’s offensive coordinator. He was later replaced by fan favorite Bob Bratkowski and went back to being the teams QB coach until 2002. (Anderson was one of the coaches to [...]
Everything to Prove Episode 20: A.J. Green
Clipped from: www.nfl.com Gatorade and NFL.com have continued their “Everything to Prove” series. In the newest episode (20), Bengals draft pick A.J. Green is taken back to his High School and a few stories were told about him. The video is only about 3:50 long, and A.J is right in the beginning of the video. There are 20 episodes in total and they all touch on some of the top rookies of the 2011 draft class. If you’re interested in learning about the players themselves and/or the advances that have been made in sports training, the video series is worth [...]
Dhani Jones: How Good Is He And What Do We Do With Him?
This is the first article of a new series called “How Good Is He And What Do We Do With Him”. Pretty sweet title, right? It also goes by HGIHAWDWDWH (equally sweet) for short. Anyway, this series will cover the 2011 free agents. Basically, I’ll focus on one player and reveal everything about him- history, skill, weaknesses, etc. Then, I’ll play Mike Brown and decide if we should keep him. These articles are very in-depth and a bit lengthy, but if you want to sound like you know what you are talking about when discussing Dhani Jones , look no further. Intro: In 2010, Dhani [...]
Betting on Bengals for Offensive R.O.Y.
Online gambling site Bodog.eu has already started showing off it’s odd’s board for NFL’s AP Offensive & Defensive Rookie of the Year awards. For those who aren’t into internet sports gambling, Bodog has a reputation for gambling on anything and everything. Right now on the site you can bet on who’s going to win the season of “The Voice” or “political bets” like “Will Toronto City Mayor Rob Ford make a public appearance least one Gay Pride event in Toronto during the 2011 festival?’ (odd I know) The Bengals don’t have a candidate for the Defensive ROY, but they actually [...]
Steelers Big Ben May Need Foot Surgery
Clipped from: pittsburgh.cbslocal.com Via PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP): Roethlisberger apparently injured the foot during week 12 vs the Buffalo Bills. And was given the chance to have it operated on after the Super Bowl, but he chose to let the foot heal naturally. Ben had never missed a game due to the foot, but did have to wear special metal plated cleat to protect the foot. Roethlisberger said the ongoing NFL lockout has helped him recover from the injury, but he hasn’t ruled out surgery at some point.
Bengals’ Ochocinco Talks Alligator Wresting
The mouth of Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco never seems to quit. In a recent article with NFL.com Ochocinco elaborated on his new plans to stay busy during the lockout. After having tried out for a professional soccer team. Challenged his head coach to a a cage fight. And showed the world how long it takes to fall off a Bull (1.5 Seconds FYI). Ochocinco feels he needs to “one-up” Bengals Owner Mike Brown and do something Brown didn’t even mention during his “snake wrangling” quote. I just one-upped [Brown]: I am going to wrestle alligators. Don’t laugh, like I am serious and [...]
Dhani Jones has been a constant headliner this week. During his appearance on the NFL Network’s “Total Access”, Dhani shared his thoughts on the Palmer brothers and Cincinnati itself, and, more notably, criticized Ravens QB Joe Flacco and Bears LB Brian Urlacher. Dhani left Urlacher off his list of the top-ten current NFL linebackers and placed himself 7th. Dhani’s top-ten received a lot of heat from Urlacher supporters. Journalist Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune called Dhani’s list “an unprovoked attack” and even headlined an article “Brian Urlacher should ask, ‘Who is Dhani Jones?‘“. Urlacher’s teammate and fellow linebacker [...]
Fox Sports on Bengals Owner Mike Brown
Clipped from: msn.foxsports.com Fox Sports put up a great article on Bengals owner Mike Brown related to the current CBA issues. In the article they touch on the Browns reputation of being cheap and how his reputation from others has been altered after he was able to get the owners to opt out of the CBA early. And even explaining how Mike Brown’s Bengals are actually leaving less cap room then most would expect. Unlike many of his free-spending peers, Brown and the Bengals don’t believe in investing future money. The collective mindset of the Bengals is to prefer a [...]
Clipped from: www.nfl.com Jason La Canfora of NFL Network recently wrote an article about 4th year players that make this Free agent class “worthwhile”. In the article he made mention of Veteran QB’s and with one player he kept the Bengals in mind. No big-time starters here. No long-term solutions to anyone’s needs. But there are some interesting options. Bruce Gradkowski has won some games for Tampa Bay and Oakland without much of a supporting cast. He is a gamer, and teammates love him. He has strong leadership skills and plays hurt. He has ties to Jay Gruden already, and the [...]
