The Bengals had a press conference this morning at 11:30, and a number of headlines emerged from the mouths of Bengals Owner Mike Brown and Head Coach Marvin Lewis.
The biggest? Carson Palmer “has retired”. Well, according to Mike Brown (video).
Mike Brown had this to say about the Carson Palmer issue:
I honestly like Carson Palmer. He was a splendid player for us. He is a good person. I wish him well and he has retired. That was his choice… I’m not expecting him to be back. Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment. He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it.
Lewis also chimed in with this:
We are going forward as if Carson is retired, I wish Carson well. He is retired. He gave his word, we relied on his word.
Well, that’s that for the will-Brown-trade-Palmer talk! Don’t forget, Carson Palmer hasn’t filed his retirements papers yet, but it looks like he’ll be spending his year chillaxin’ in California.
