Former Arizona Cardinal Deuce Lutui has signed a 2 year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. The contract seems to be “front loaded” being $8.75 million dollars with $5 million going awarded in the first season.
Some of you may remember me mentioning Lutui in my 3 Positions on Offense the Bengals Should Address in Free Ageny article early this week. In the article I said Deuce was
Another big boy in his prime. Remember the plan isn’t to sign potential, it’s to sign a protector now. And Lutui is one of the best Guards available in this Free Agency period.
Signing Lutui doesn’t give the Bengals a guard who will be good in 3-5 years down the road. Signing Lutui gives the Bengals a huge help and a solid protector for the team right now.
To those who already call the Bengals season a loss give it a little time. We lost Evan Mathis and gained a guy who’s started the last 48 games for the Cardinals. The last game he missed being the last one of the 2007 though he started the 15 before it.
