Show Me My Opponent: Indianapolis Colts
In this weeks update of “Show Me My Opponent” I caught up with Adam Hughes, the editor of Fansided’s Indianapolis Colts blog Naptown’s Finest. I asked Adam a few questions about what’s going on in Indianapolis and what to expect from the Colts this season.
Bengals Give Whitworth 2-Year Extension Through 2015
According to former Bengals play-by-play announcer Brad Johansen, the Cincinnati Bengals agreed to a two-year extension with LT Andrew Whitworth that will keep him with the Bengals through the 2015 NFL season. The deal will reportedly pay him $20 million over the contract. Originally drafted as a guard out of LSU in the 2nd round of the 2006 NFL Draft, Whitworth was moved to LT and has been the Bengals most consistent offensive lineman since locking down the LT job. Whitworth has started 70 games in his 5-year career and is currently one of the team captains. He and RG [...]
Adam “Pacman” Jones to start Season on PUP.
Clipped from: twitter.com (share this clip) Bengals.com Geoff Hobson points out the Adam “Pacman” Jones will likely starting the 2012 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. During his short time being a Bengal Jones has not had the cleanest bill of health. Making the trade for CB Kelly Jennings look even better.
Did Bengals Owner Mike Brown Pass Away?
Kidding of course. Is it just me or have the Bengals actually shown that they are attempting to rebuild a franchise? They traded franchise WR Chad Ochocinco to New England for a Draft Pick. Traded an ‘undisclosed’ draft pick to San Francisco for Safety Taylor Mays. And most recently they traded reserve DT Clinton McDonald to Seattle for 2006 first round draft pick Kelly Jennings. Prior to the lockout beginning of the NFL Lockout the team even made changes in their FO and Staff. The Bengals parted ways with Offensive Coordinator Bob Bratkowski and brought in a AFL H.O.F.’er Jay [...]
Bengals Trade for CB Kelly Jennings
After learning that CB Adam Jones will start the season on the PUP list, the Bengals haves shored up their CB depth by trading for Seattle CB Kelly Jennings in exchange for DT Clinton McDonald. Jennings is a 5-year veteran with 44 career NFL starts and is expected to be the Bengals nickle corner, which is essentially a starter in today’s pass-happy NFL. McDonald showed a lot of promise this preseason with his quick burst off the line of scrimmage to rush the passer, but he was part of a loaded DT rotation now that Pat Sims is healthy and [...]
SH’s Bengals Roster Updates
Here at Stripe Hype we are trying our hardest to stay on top of all the roster activity going on with the Bengals. Recently we’ve updated all of our roster, depth charts, and UDFA signing page. I chose to just strike out players names rather then delete them off the list right now to show the amount of cuts the team has made. So unless someone else has taken that players jersey number, that player is more then likely still on the list for you to read their information. To see the updated pages feel free to click the [...]
Bengals’ Dunlap Looking to Be Back For Opener
Sophomore left Defensive End Carlos Dunlap is preparing to be back for the season opener. After attempting to avoid a sophomore slump like many Bengals in the past, Dunlap has tweaked his knee twice thus far in preseason practices. So far during the preseason Dunlap has yet to make an appearance during a game. And right now all signs are pointing to the fact he will not be playing this weeks preseason game versus the Indianapolis Colts. Obviously in the grand scheme of things the Bengals’ ultimate goal isn’t to have Dunlap rush into a preseason game but rather play [...]
Clipped from: fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com (share this clip) The New York Times released a season preview this morning that was surprisingly detailed and comprehensive. The author, Andy Benoit, is doing previews for all 32 teams. In previews done by the national media, the writer will usually mention the departure of both Palmer & Ochocinco and criticize Mike Brown, counting the Bengals out from the very start. Benoit did this in his first paragraph, but followed with some decent analysis.
Bengals Release Jordan Palmer
The Palmer era in Cincinnati is finally over. Per Bengals.com writer Geoff Hobson the Bengals have released Carson Palmer‘s younger brother Jordan Palmer. This move doesn’t come as much of a shock considering that it was just yesterday I was noting the possibility that the team may not even keep 3 QB’s Look for Lefevour to make it to the final cut down day because of the need of another camp body. After that it’s really a coin flip if he will be on the 53 man roster, but considering his age and his lack of NFL playing time Dan [...]
Can Benson Carry the Load?
When Cedric Benson joined the Bengals in the middle of the 2008 season, the Bengals’ running game had been non-existent the past 2 seasons after a decade of great running teams behind Corey Dillon and Rudi Johnson. After Johnson finally wore down after 4 good years and Chris Perry proved to be an inadequate replacement, Benson stepped in and revived the running game while QB Carson Palmer was sidelined with an elbow injury. Benson carried the team to 3 straight wins to end the 2008 season, which helped build up to a 2009 division title led by his 1,251 rushing [...]
