What was rumored to be in the works last night has come to light today, as Tank Johnson was released by the Bengals today. The eight-year veteran spent the last 2 seasons with the Bengals and was part of a resurgent defense that routinely finished in the mid-high 20′s in the NFL, to a top 15 defense the last 2 years, including a unit that finished 4th overall in 2009 when Johnson started 13 games. Johnson came into training camp with a knee injury, and had reportedly fallen to 5th on the depth chart.
The Bengals also reportedly waived reserve TE/FB Garrett Mills.
