After learning that CB Adam Jones will start the season on the PUP list, the Bengals haves shored up their CB depth by trading for Seattle CB Kelly Jennings in exchange for DT Clinton McDonald. Jennings is a 5-year veteran with 44 career NFL starts and is expected to be the Bengals nickle corner, which is essentially a starter in today’s pass-happy NFL. McDonald showed a lot of promise this preseason with his quick burst off the line of scrimmage to rush the passer, but he was part of a loaded DT rotation now that Pat Sims is healthy and practicing again. Also noteworthy is the fact that Jennings was a 1st round draft pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, which makes him the 5th former 1st round pick that is a member of the Bengals secondary. The former Miami Hurricane has 207 tackles and 47 passes defensed over his 5-year career, but has manged only 2 career interceptions.
