Bengals Staff Attending Pryor’s Pro-Day
The Bengals have been rumored to have shown interest in Terrelle Pryor for a short time now. It’s not confusing why the team would have interest in him being a “local” college player, freak athlete and has the possibility to find a home at a number of positions. Bengals.com Writer Geoff Hobson writes that It’s believed the Bengals are interested enough in former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor that they’ll staff this weekend’s workout headed by former Bengals quarterback and assistant coach Ken Anderson before Monday’s supplemental draft. My understanding of who to expect at the workout is QB Coach [...]
Bengals Decline Option on OT Andre Smith
The Bengals have decided to pass on the the full length contract for OT Andre Smith. By doing this, Andre Smith will be a Free Agent at the End of the 2012 NFL season. This move is an example of a smart business/football decision of the teams front office. Declining the option gives the team more options on how to handle Smith. It’s becoming well known that he has shown up in shape at camp and is even starting to perform in preseason like a young 1st round OT. But if this new look Andre is just a sham for the [...]
Gold Star Chili & Bengals Still on Good Terms
After their online survey started quite a ruckus through Bengals fans and followers of the NFL, Gold Star Chili is apparently still on good terms with the team. Their survey entitled “Help Gold Star Chili assess the value of its Cincinnati Bengals Sponsorship” was seen as a massive shot at the Bengals. With their ranking of 122/122 in ESPN’s franchise rankins and the Carson Palmer debacle it was assumed by many on the net that Gold Star was beginning to reconsider being a sponser to the Bengals. Gold Star admits it should have handled the survey a little differently. They’ve also said that [...]
Bengals WR AJ Green Back in Action
After being sidelined for a day young Wide Receiver AJ Green is back at practice. It appears the day of rest was to be preventive rather then Green having a serious injury. The Bengals need to keep a close eye on Green, they have a knack for getting their high draft picks injured. (KJ Carter, D Pollack, K Irons). Any injury or soreness for Green needs to be addressed with extreme caution. Green mentioned in Thursdays practice that he is feeling fine and excited to be going against Jets Corner Darrelle Revis this week. Want more Bengals news? Tressel Camp Recap
Today marked the final Training Camp practice at Georgetown College. Perhaps the most notable thing at practice today was a former coach who watched practice from the sidelines. Stripe Hype investigative reporters spotted former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel roaming the sidelines with Bengals owner Mike Brown. He spent the whole practice talking to Brown while watching the Bengals practice. The only Bengal player to acknowledge Tressel’s presence was former Buckeye kicker Mike Nugent, as he went to greet Tressel in the middle of practice. What exactly was the former OSU coach doing at Bengals training camp, after being spotted [...]
You gotta love GQ Magazine. They have a knack for getting controversial quotes out of NFL Players. A month ago, the Steelers’ LB James Harrison called Roger Goodell “the devil”. Last week, the Jets’ QB Mark Sanchez said he wanted to fight his head coach Rex Ryan. On deck is Michael Vick. His interview is set to be released Thursday morning, but CBS Sports got their hands on some leaked quotes and wrote a story on his controversial comments about dog-fighting. That’s great and all, but after scrolling down, I found this gem: “I think I can say this now, [...]
Bengals Sign Calvin Russell & LeRoy Vann
The Bengals have brought in 2 young talents for preseason. Calvin Russell a WR journeyman who’s played at the UFL and AFL level. And LeRoy Vann a college return man who couldn’t catch on at the NFL level. They will be wearing #’s 86 & 31 respectively. Calvin Russell is another UFL Jay Gruden Receiver having a chance in the NFL. To those who may think Russell sounds familiar he played in the AFL’s Columbus Destroyers in 2008. LeRoy Vann was an elite NCAA return specialist. His career high was 7 returns for TD’s in a season. He had a [...]
Ndamukong Suh Fined $20,000
It looks like Suh is being docked $20,000 from his paycheck for the hit on Bengals QB Andy Dalton. The hit happened early in Friday’s preseason game. Suh continued to slam Dalton into the ground after the ball had already been released. Suh has already voiced his frustrations on the fine exclaiming: $20,000REALLY???!! #NFL #BigFail I have a love/hate relationship with Suh personally. He is a phenomenal talent who goes for the big (sometimes dirty) hit every chance he can. He’s really fun to watch, when not playing the Bengals.
After 5 Days of Semi-Retirement, Ex-Bengal Reggie Kelly Returns to the Atlanta Falcons
After an odd turn of events, former Bengal TE Reggie Kelly has signed with the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran Tight End had been rumored to end up with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but on August 10, Kelly seemingly decided to retire (which he later denied through his Twitter). He then was reported to be working out with his original NFL team, the Atlanta Falcons. Now, the Falcons have signed him (probably on a one-year deal), picking up an incredible blocking Tight End who may only be around for one more year. He will certainly fulfill his role well, as he did [...]
Tank Johnson Cut by Bengals
What was rumored to be in the works last night has come to light today, as Tank Johnson was released by the Bengals today. The eight-year veteran spent the last 2 seasons with the Bengals and was part of a resurgent defense that routinely finished in the mid-high 20′s in the NFL, to a top 15 defense the last 2 years, including a unit that finished 4th overall in 2009 when Johnson started 13 games. Johnson came into training camp with a knee injury, and had reportedly fallen to 5th on the depth chart. The Bengals also reportedly waived reserve [...]
