Bengals and Tank Johnson to Part Ways?
Leon Hall Needs To Step It Up
When the Bengals chose Jonathan Joseph out of South Carolina in 2006 and Leon Hall out of Michigan in 2007, it looked like the Bengals were locking up their starting cornerbacks for years to come. But, the problem with choosing two first-round corners in back-to-back years is that you gotta pay them big bucks in back-to-back years in order to re-sign them with the team. That caused issues with the Bengals this offseason, and that’s why Jonathan Joseph left to the Houston Texans. Joseph wanted a lot of money when his rookie contract expired, and the Bengals realized that Hall [...]

Monday Training Camp Recap
Coming of a dismal performance against Detroit Friday night, the Bengals came into camp today looking to rebound and get refocused. That dismal effort apparently leaked into today’s practice, as the Bengals came out very sloppy. The offensive line continued to struggle with false starts. Dalton struggled with the center-QB exchange and fumbled 3 snaps that I counted. Marvin Lewis wasn’t happy with the effort and had the team running laps to get the team refocused. Things would progress as practice went on. The tempo of practice was up and players went from drill to drill much quicker. There was [...]
Bengals Rookie LB Moch Out For 2 Months
Rookie Linebacker Dontay Moch broke the broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot during friday nights game versus the Detroit Lions. The length of time it takes to heal is averaged about 2 months. It is assumed that Moch will now be starting the season on the PUP. This will really set they young player back as it slows him down on multiple levels. Being injured stops him from seeing serious time in the preseason like he needs. And it stops him from contributing on Special Teams during the regular season. With Moch going on PUP it opens [...]

“New Beginning” – Pre-Season Week 1
In the opening preseason game of Marvin Lewis’ “New Beginning,” the Cincinnati Bengals demonstrated they still have a long way to go toward becoming competitive in the NFL, though the final score spoke little of how the Bengals’ first teams performed overall. The Detroit Lions took the opening kickoff and scored on their first possession. Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford gave the Bengals front 7 little time to apply any pressure at all, completing 3 short passes before Calvin Johnson turned Leon Hall around to haul in a long pass in the front corner of the end zone for a touchdown. [...]
NFL Game Time: Halftime Update
Offensive Notes: Concerning the passing game, there was a shaky start had by Dalton but he looks like he finally settled in. The pass protection is looking good and bad. The Tackles have looked great the whole game. Livings and Williams on the other hand are getting the young QB hurt. Suh nearly ripping of Dalton’s head should have never even came close to happening to begin with. The run game has looked great the entire game though. Cedric Benson was eating up yards at a time. And the Right side of the offensive line was moving bodies. Leonard showed [...]

Bengals’ “New Beginning” 2.0
Marvin Lewis’ second “New Beginning” could not have gotten off to a less auspicious start than when news leaked that franchise quarterback Carson Palmer was demanding to be traded to a West Coast / warm weather team. Otherwise, rumor had it, he would retire from football. The loss of Palmer was probably not one of the changes that Lewis promised would make the team “better.” But, to borrow from Lewis’ own media playbook, “it was what it was.” There would be no changing Palmer’s mind. The team had to move on, but Mike Brown obstinately refused to grant [...]
