Show Me My Opponent: Denver Broncos

For this weeks edition of “Show Me My Opponent” I got a hold Kim Constantinesco, the editor of the Fansided Broncos Blog, Predominantly Orange.
I asked Kim about the Broncos and what Bengals fans should expect this coming week at Mile High Stadium.

With the “QB controversy” in Denver, who do the fans want under center, Tebow or Orton?

"Hands down, the fans want Tebow. The fans believe that if we’re going to continue to lose, we should do it with someone else. Orton has been here for over two years now and while his personal statistics are great, he’s only won 11 out of 30 games. Tebow brings energy to the game and he’s able to score in unique ways. I think that gets our fans excited."

What are the Broncos biggest areas of concern?

"Run defense continues to be a big area of concern. The Broncos were ranked 31st against the run last year, and in one game this year, they gave up 190 yards to the Raiders. We have two starters on the defensive line out with injuries, and their replacements haven’t been able to crowd the box yet. Once we stop the run, the pass rush will be a lot more effective."

How have injuries affected the Broncos roster for the 2011 NFL Season?

"One of our biggest free agent signees, defensive tackle Ty Warren, is gone for most of the season with a partially torn triceps. Our first 2010 draft pick, Demaryius Thomas, didn’t get the reps in training camp because he was healing from a torn Achilles and now he’s waiting on a broken finger to heal. Those were the two off season injuries that hurt. Now Elvis Dumervil, Champ Bailey, Brandon Lloyd, and Knowshon Moreno are questionable at best for week two. John Fox takes a “next man up” approach so we’ll see if the injuries come back to haunt us or if the team can follow his philosophy."

What draft picks/free agent signings will have the biggest impact on the Broncos?

"No. 2 overall pick Von Miller will have the biggest impact. His presence is already felt on defense because he’s fast, aggressive, and gets to the quarterback quickly. When paired with Elvis Dumervil, the Broncos are a sack machine."

What are the overall expectations for the Broncos 2012 NFL Season?

"I’m predicting a 7-9 season. That’s three games better than last year, but they will go through some growing pains as the John Fox era begins."
