Updates on Bengals “Drug Bust”

by Bengals

As the story of  2 Bengals’ players is progressing (quite slowly) it’s beginning to be more and more confusing.  While some news outlets report that players were “detained” while others say “All three were questioned at the residence, but no arrests were made at the time“.

When looking at the headline it doesn’t really seem like a shocker. People who have money and are interested in pot, would probably buy high quality stuff. And rather then going out and getting it themselves they would have it brought to them. At this point it seems believable.

Where it really starts to get off track is when you start noticing the details of the story. The fact that police found scales and items that make the house appear to be a “distribution network” is make it seem like “wow these guys were serious into selling this stuff”. But where it doesn’t make sense is that these “serious drug traffickers” use a service like UPS as a way to transport it across the country. It seems obvious that there would be some checks on packages to make sure drugs are not being shipped. So hypothetically if they were dumb enough to do this, and had “other empty parcels” found on their premises; how did it take so long to catch on? But most importantly, there was 2/12 lbs of marijuana in the package, then another 6 lbs were found on the premises. So with 8 1/2 lbs of marijuana being found and in the polices hands, how does this happen:

No one was arrested, and both players participated in Wednesday’s practice in preparation to play Sunday against San Francisco  (ESPN Blogger Jamison Hensley)

I’m not sold on it either way personally. It’s not me being a homer, but rather I have too many unanswered questions.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan commented on the rumors saying

There’s nothing of substance in the development of rumors that we’re aware of. There’s nothing to hang a hat on at this point.
