Bengals Go 3/3 In FA Waiver Claims
The Bengals only put out 3 waiver claims and hit on all three attempts. Now it does help when the team has the 4th highest possible waiver claim. Of course the Bengals were able to snag Brandon Tate as mentioned earlier but it’s also worth noting that Bengals claimed Mike McGlynn from the Eagles & Mickey Shuler of the Dolphins . The Bengals also put in a claim for Mickey Shuler Jr, son of NY Jets All-Pro TE Mickey Shuler. Shuler, was drafted in 2010 by the Vikings, he was later waived and signed with the Dolphins. In his 1 [...]
Bengals Claim WR Brandon Tate
The Bengals have made several roster moves today, and the most notable is the adding of former Patriot’s WR Brandon Tate. Tate is a specialist in returning kickoffs as he finished 6th in the NFL last year in kickoff return TD’s with 2, one being against the Bengals for 97, and another one for 103. Tate, a third-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, caught 24 passes for 432 yards and three TD’s in 16 games, including 10 starts in 2010 for the 14-2 New England Patriots. He should compete with Andre Caldwell for the 4th WR spot. Tate is [...]
Bengals Depth Chart After “Cut Day”
Here’s the official depth chart at the moment. Wait for more information as it’s assumed their are still a lot of moving pieces.
SH Bengals’ Roster Prediction
It’s that time of the year where a lot of young players may be heading to the practice squad and a lot of veterans may be done with the careers all together. Only 53 players make the regular season and only a handful of eligible players get to stay around for practice squad. Here’s what I came up with for the Bengals “cut day” spreadsheet.
Kyle Cooks Signs 4-Year Extension
According to Newsday Writer Bob Glauber, the Bengals have signed C Kyle Cook to a 4-year contract extension worth $14 million and $5 million in guaranteed money. It hasn’t been an easy road for Cook, as he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in 2007. After a short stint with Minnesota, Cook joined the Bengals’ practice squad in 2008 and worked his way to full-time starter in 2009 and helped lead a resurgent Bengals running game to a AFC North Title. Cook joins CB Leon Hall and LT Andrew Whitworth as signing extensions this [...]
Bengals Ink Hall to 4-Year $39M Deal
The Bengals continue to resign their veterans and according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the team has signed CB Leon Hall to a 4-year extension worth $39M. The deal will keep him in Cincinnati through the 2015 season. It was widely believed this offseason that the Bengals would be able to resign only one of their pro-bowl level CB’s, and opted to let FA Johnathan Joseph go and resign Hall. Since he was drafted in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft, Hall has played in every game and started in 58 of a possible 64 games. He’s [...]
Bengals 53 Roster Predictions
It’s about that time where the Bengals are going to be trimming the roster down to 53 players. A lot of tough decisions are still to be made, and just as likely maybe a few additions. I thought before I posted my overall list of who do I think makes the 53, I’d post up a spreadsheet of everyone on the roster right now. Trim down the roster yourselves and tell us who you think will be making the team this season. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AikWaHdINM1vdE8zTnBISThYdktCbmpna05iVHEyNEE&hl=en_US#gid=0 Be ready to see my list tomorrow morning! And I can’t wait to see what you all [...]
Now or Never For Finley
With the last preseason game tonight before roster cut-downs on Saturday, the moment of truth is here for rookie RB Jay Finley. The Bengals took the Baylor product with a compensatory 7th-round draft pick, so nothing was going to be handed to him. Finley got a lot of carries during Bengals training camp when Benson was unsigned and Bernard Scott was injured. He managed to impress Marvin Lewis enough to garner his praise: “He’s got great quickness and shows an ability to make people miss. Yesterday when we did the one-on-ones I thought he did a great job separating from [...]
ESPN’s fantasy bloger, Eric Karabell, released an article yesterday titled “Benson could be a fantasy bargain“. Karabell hit the nail on the head with this one. Benson is sliding in many fantasy drafts. He had been about the 50-60th pick before the news of his jail sentence broke. Now he’s sliding to the 70′s, 80′s, 90′s and further. No one likes him. Which is why you can get him on your team for a very good value. I’ll let Karabell present his point first. Karabell begins his argument with this: I’m here to play devil’s advocate and remind people that [...]
NFL GameTime: Indianapolis Colts
Tonight’s Game is the end of the Bengals preseason. That means two things; next week the regular season starts & the roster will be trimmed down to 53 players. Former NFL HC Herm Edwards describes this week best saying: The young guys in the NFL, they know this is their game. It’s real important for a young player and a rookie trying to make a team. And that’s exactly it, week 4 of preseason is the “last hoorah” for many of young Bengals players, last year many remember the hair of CB Johnny Sears, but I’m sure not many readers [...]
