Dhani Jones Decides to Retire

Dhani Jones, according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, has decided that his best days of playing football are behind him.

Just got off the phone w @dhanijones. He’s officially calling it quits on an 11-year career. Jones has done a ton off-field and wants to now focus on helping players in all sports do similar things

Jones himself also tweeted:

It has been an amazing 11 years

And posted this video on his own website, where he says “it’s time to turn another chapter”, and “thanks to the Cincinnati Bengals for fine-tuning me as a person”.

Dhani began with the Giants and Eagles playing outside linebacker, and found a home at middle linebacker with the Bengals in 2007. He has been the Bengals Defensive Captain for the past 2 years, leading the team in tackles and making defensive playcalls.

He was an integral part of Cincinnati’s 2009 top-5 defense, and was well known for his charitable ways and offseason TV appearances.

With the move of Rey Maualuga to his old Middle Linebacker spot from college, the writing was on the wall for Dhani this offseason. It appears other teams weren’t that interested in signing Dhani, but Dhani has a career in TV locked up. He is currently hosting VH1′s Ton of Cash and the Big Ten Network’s Football Fix.
