The Colts have signed former two Bengals today: Cornerback Morgan Trent and Quarterback Dan Lefevour. Both were on the Bengals 2011 roster, but were released due to competition at their respective positions. Trent had been with the Bengals since being drafted as the Bengals’ sixth round pick in 2009. Trent had a big impact on the Bengals top 5 defense in 2009 as a rookie, but was injured in 2010 halfway through the season. He missed the first week of 2011 training camp with a lingering knee issue that scared the Bengals enough to re-structure his contract in the offseason. [...]

When Andy Dalton was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, he was the fifth QB taken, and was arguably drafted into the worst situation of any of the rookie QB’s. The Bengals had just lost their franchise WR and QB, so Dalton had no veteran QB to learn the  NFL game from. He would have to deal with the NFL lockout, which prevented him from participating in mini-camps and OTA’s. Despite all of this, he’s leading the NFL rookie QB’s in TD throws, completion percentage, and the most important stat of all: WINNING!

When Jermaine Gresham went down with a hamstring injury, QB Andy Dalton lost one of his most reliable offensive weapons. Its no secret in today’s NFL that rookie QB’s love big, athletic tight ends like Gresham, and losing him could have been disastrous to the Bengals’ offense, as he ranks third on the team in receiving yards and second in TD receptions.

With the Bengals 24-17 win over the Titans today, they have moved to the #1 overall seed in the AFC. They have a tiebreaker over Pittsburgh based on the best win-percentage in division games, pending the results of Pittsburgh-Baltimore tonight. If the Ravens win, the Bengals will maintain the spot. But if the Steelers win, they will have the new #1 overall seed. LB Rey Maualuga and TE Jermaine Gresham missed practice all week and are very doubtful to play. CB Adam Jones returned to practice on Friday but wasn’t 100%. Runningback Cedric Benson is excited for his return to action this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. The bye week and one-week suspension have left 21 days between games for the hungry Benson. Benson takes pride in his conditioning and dieting, and doesn’t anticipate any rust this week. “Maybe for some guys,” he said. “I don’t expect to have to adjust or get back in any type of groove. He has six sacks, but the Broncos are a quarterback away from being a potential playoff team in that division. Despite being 2-5, Denver has talent and Dalton gives them a better chance to win. Middle Linebacker Rey Maualuga (ankle)- Maualuga has not practiced since Oct. 13 but has started to run on a side field today. Dan Skuta will likely make his third start at LB in Rey’s place. Tight End Jermaine Gresham (hamstring)- Jermaine Gresham was also working out on a side field today. His hamstring was tweaked in practice last Friday, and retweaked in warmups last Sunday. Cornerback Adam Jones (hamstring)- CB Adam Jones (hamstring) said the hamstring feels about 60 percent right now. Pacman also said that he didn’t want to play unless he could run at full speed.
