Bengals Getting Healthy At The Right Time

AUTHOR: | IN: Bengals | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Bengals are 8-6 and in position to make the playoffs, but they probably need to win their remaining two games and have the New York Jets lose at least one of their games. Fortunately for the Bengals, players are healthy and returning to practice. Defensive playmakers DE Carlos Dunlap and CB Nate Clements had both missed games, but returned and played last week against the Rams. However the Bengals were missing many player on offense for the Rams game. FB Chris Pressley, RB Brian Leonard, RT Andre Smith all didn’t play. And star wide receiver AJ Green hurt his [...]

Milestones, Milestones, Milestones… And Other Postgame Headlines

AUTHOR: | IN: Bengals | COMMENTS: None Yet

DALTON-GREEN: Quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver AJ Green have now become the most prolific rookie quarterback/receiver combination in the NFL since 1991. Dalton and Green have combined for 58 receptions and 951 yards this season, surpassing Cleveland’s combination of Tim Couch and Kevin Johnson, who posted 57 receptions and 859 yards in 1999. Dalton to Green is fourth in rookie QB-WR touchdowns since 1951. Green has 7 TDs on the year, but don’t forget that Gradkowski threw one of them in the week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. GREEN: Green had six receptions for 115 yards yesterday, totaling [...]

WR Caldwell Will Sit Today, Hawkins To Work Slot

AUTHOR: | IN: Bengals | COMMENTS: None Yet

For all you Andrew Hawkins fans out there, you are going to see a lot of Baby Hawk today. Sunday’s inactives include the traditional 3rd WR Andre Caldwell. That means that Hawkins will probably see 30-40 snaps today (jumps for joy). Caldwell isn’t out due to an injury, the organization is calling it a coach’s decision. Which means either A) Caldwell is being punished or B) Hawkins is simply the better man for the job. Probably, A. The little man Hawkins is a huge fan favorite. He worked his ass off in the preseason, and showed a bit of Darren [...]

Who To Use At Fullback?

AUTHOR: | IN: Bengals | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Runningback Brian Leonard (40) will probably miss his second straight game after not practicing all week. Leonard received the doubtful tag due to his nagging knee issue. Of the 4 running backs on the team, Leonard is the best at pass-blocking for his quarterback and catching passes out of the backfield. This is what makes Leonard so valuable as a third-down back. In fact, the 6-1, 225-pound Leonard is so versatile, he is also the team’s back up fullback. The starting fullback is the 5-11, 256-pound, bowling ball named Chris Pressley (36). But, Pressley also missed practice all week. Head [...]

Dalton Approaching Several Milestones

AUTHOR: | IN: Bengals, Player News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Andy Dalton is having arguably the greatest rookie season by a Bengals rookie quarterback ever, and one of the best in NFL history. He needs only 139 yards passing to surpass Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco for 5th-most passing yards by a rookie QB in NFL history. Flacco threw for 2,971 yards his rookie year on a team similar to this years’ Bengals that was at its best when relying on their running game and defense to control games. Dalton also needs a mere 167 passing yards to become 5th rookie in NFL history with 3000 passing yards. Peyton Manning, Cam [...]

Bengals Rookies Already Making A Splash in Pro Bowl Voting

AUTHOR: | IN: Player News | COMMENTS: None Yet

If the pro-bowl voting ended today, AJ Green would finish 3rd in the AFC in fan-voting among all wide receivers. Four wide receivers end up making it to the Pro Bowl from each conference. Andy Dalton, the other prized Bengal rookie, is also top-5 in his position. Of course, both coaches and players also need to vote on their selections. The fan voting only counts for one-third of the final voting, which unfortunately kept left tackle Andrew Whitworth from going to the Pro Bowl last year when he won the AFC tackle position voting by a landslide. In any case, [...]
