The Bengals have just announced that they have received word from the NFL that QB Andy Dalton, DT Geno Atkins, and TE Jermaine Gresham have been added to the AFC Pro-Bowl roster to replace the New England Patriots players who are now playing in the Super Bowl.
Here are some noteworthy accomplishments from today’s announcement:
- A.J. Green and Andy Dalton are the first rookie wide receiver-quarterback combo from the same team in the history of the Pro Bowl.
- Gresham becomes the Bengals’ first Pro Bowl tight end since Rodney Holman in 1990.
- Atkins is the first Bengals defensive lineman to make the game since DT Tim Krumrie was selected in the 1987 season.
- Dalton becomes the first rookie quarterback to play in the Pro Bowl since Vince Young in 2006.
