Remembering Bengals Run to the 1988 Super Bowl

Its now been 24 years since the Bengals last made a Super Bowl, and the 1988 season was a memorable one that Bengals fans will never forget. Just one year earlier, Cincinnati was a last place team, finishing 4-11, and Head Coach Sam Wyche was firmly on the hot seat. But Paul Brown had faith in Wyche, and the Bengals rallied in the 1988 NFL season to reel off 12 wins and an AFC CentrAl Crown. The Bengals had 9 pro bowl players, including rookie fullback Ickey Woods, whose famous “Ickey Shuffle” was one of the more memorable NFL celebrations. The team would then defeat the Seahawks and the Bills to advance to the franchise’s second super bowl, marking one of the greatest turnarounds in NFL history:
