SH Noon Headlines: Franchise Tag Deadline Looms

Oct 9, 2011; Jacksonville, FL, USA; Cincinnati Bengals free safety

With the deadline for NFL teams to use the franchise tag being next Monday, it appears morel likely that the Bengals won’t use the tag. The only viable candidate for getting franchised is safety Reggie Nelson. Its not that he played at a “franchise safety” level, but he is a valuable piece to this defense, and the tag for safeties is just $6.1 million, the Mike Brown wouldn’t be vastly overpaying to have Nelson for one more year to work out a long-term deal.
