When news broke yesterday of the New Orleans Saints engaging in player bounties that were encouraged by former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, immediately it was being called the greatest NFL scandal in decades. It dwarfs the Patriot’s Spygate controversy a few years ago, and one could argue that what Williams and Saints defensive players were doing was a criminal offense. They were essentially putting “hits” out on NLF players, trying to seriously injure them. IF any of those targeted players like Brett Favre or Kurt Warner were to press charges or sue Gregg Williams or those Saints players, they would certainly have a case.
