Cincinnati.com is reporting that the assault case of Bengals’ LB Rey Maualuga is going into mediation. This means if both Maualuga and Sammy Laham, the Luxe bar employee whom Rey allegedly assaulted, reach an agreement in mediation, the charge would be dismissed and Maualuga would avoid serving any jail time. As of now, the assault charge Rey is facing carries a maximum jail sentence of 180 days. Even if Maualuga is successful in mediation, it is still highly likely he will be suspended for a number of games by the NFL.
