If it weren’t for free agent QB Peyton Manning, the most sought after free agent would be Texans DE Mario Williams. From 2007-2010, Williams recorded 43 sacks while only missing three of a possible 61 games. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle last season which caused him to miss 11 games. The Texans currently don’t have the cap space to re-sign the All-Pro DE, and he’ll be the best free agent defensive player available. Adam Schefter reported this morning on the Mike and Mike Show that he’ll likely receive a $15 million per year contract.
Mario Williams, Matt Flynn could be Seahawks targets in Free Agency
If the Seahawks were to sign these two players, they would instantly go from borderline playoff contender to one of the elite NFC teams. QB was the teams biggest weakness last year, and Pete Carroll knows how to get the most out of his QBs, so Flynn could be the missing piece to this team. Signing Mario Williams would upgrade the 9th-ranked Seahawks defense to one of, if not the NFC’s best defense.
