Adam Schefter reported earlier that Bengals free agent WR Jerome Simpson is visiting the Minnesota vikings today. Simpson has now visited with the Vikings and Rams and there’s talk that there are other NFL teams interested in him. Marvin Lewis has left the door open for Simpson to return to the team, though that won’t happen if the Bengals draft a WR high in the NFL Draft.
Now Jason La Canfora reports that the Bengals are indeed interested in bringing back Simpson. Its still unknown what type of suspension Simpson will face as a result of his drug-related felony charge. Perhaps the fact that this is his first offense, and that he’ll serve 60 days in jail is punishment enough in the eyes of Roger Goodell. Hopefully he’ll get a chance with another team, as the Bengals have had too many off-the-filed problems with players to warrant bringing back a player who will be coming off a 60-day jail sentence.
