NFL Mocks breaks down Pead’s game into pros and cons:
Can absolutely cut on a dime…Really Shifty in the open field and does a good job of changing direction…one cut and go…smooth runner looks like he’s gliding most of the time…catches the ball out of hte backfield well…plus vision…isn’t going to get caught from behind very often…uses a good stiff arm…accelerates quickly…runs with good balance…if there’s any daylight at all he explodes into the second and third levels and down the field
A thinner lower half…hasn’t run a standard I formation with a blocking full back…willing blocker, but not a very good blocker out of the backfield…at his best running on the edge, and probably ideally suited for a system that can get him some space…breaks arm tackles because he runs hard, but isn’t going to break a lot of good form tackles…has been described as immature
Round Projection: 3rd round
The Bengals need to find another quality RB in this draft, as they’ve failed to do so since drafting Rudi Johnson in the fourth-round of the 2004 draft. Pead could be the one to end that drought if they opt to select him tonight. His stock has rose as of late, and they’ll likely have to move up into the early portion of the 3rd-round to secure his services.
